Re: ⚽ Shrewsbury v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Same old story we have nothing from midfield when Lanzini is not there. Although i guess starting with a back 5 and three defensive midfielders away to a premier league side. Moyes may have put out strong players but was it a strong 'team'

Chicarito, Ayew and Kouyate a waste of time

Rice impressive, Cullen is worth keeping......no worse than Kouyate at the minute

Lucky to be in the hat tonight, hopefully we get a good draw then theres motivation to do the business in the replay

Re: ⚽ Shrewsbury v West Ham - Official Match Thread
the demise and decay of what any football fan would call "good play" , shows no sign of bottoming out with this useless bunch does it?

Not a single player seems able to connect, work with or without the ball in partnership with his nearest two or three players- -its the stuff I was coaching my lads 11 year old's years ago - seeing the likes of ayew and hernandez running around chasing players on their own , or receiving possession facing the wrong way- its fucking garbag e football all over the park.

Throw ins usually go right back to the oppo, I doubt we put more than five passes together or held possession for more than 15 seconds in any phase yesterday, noone dropped a shoulder, found a bit of space- the game plan seemed to be GET RID-- again, like watching 11 years olds.

Fucking awfull- the reason I didnt go was after seeing a similar performance versus arsenal in the cup - i lay most of the blame at Moyes door. Didnt want him and and I still do noit want him.

Declan RICE certainly looks like "a reasonable squad player".

I don't usually subscribe to the 'the poor lambs are tired' theory. I'm more in the, 'the lazy cunts should be able to play two games a week' camp. However, chasing around like lunatics after Arse, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City and well as having normal matches against somewhat lesser opposition MUST have had some effect. So I'm almost inclined to forgive Reid, Ogbonna, Obiang, Masuaku and even that useless cunt Kouyate. No such excuses for Hernadez and Ayew, though, who have hardly played.

The kids were OK, but nothing special. They look like reasonable squad players.

having Burke as a wing back and Cullen right side of midfield are two errors but I agree the team should have had enough to get a result

North Bank, the fact of the matter is, even the more senior players that played yesterday didn't want the battle. It was almost as if the key was to get through the game unscathed. Which they pretty much all did except Cullen. If Moyes is not interested in this competition this season, then why not play a whole team of youth in the replay.

Moyes picked a side that should have beaten Shrewsbury. But they were shit on the day. Moyes has said it. I don't see what Moyes has done wrong here.

Re: ⚽ Shrewsbury v West Ham - Official Match Thread
he passes to a team mate rather than the opposition, something Kouyate & Obiang struggle with most games

I do not remember Cullen getting the ball to our forwards or attacking Shrewsbury’s defense to get in on goal, so what was he doing that we were missing from the midfield?
We do not need another midfield battler that doesn't get the ball forward.

Saw it differently on Cullen we looked better when he was made the play maker and wasn't off to one side.

Moynes thought he was probably our best player so he was not going to sub him.

We do tend to fetishise the youth (or any player that is not playing) sometimes on here but he had a generally positive performance for me. Consider he has been in and out of the Bolton side, not sure he is ready to make the step up this second but did show what a little desire and fresher legs can do.

Re: ⚽ Shrewsbury v West Ham - Official Match Thread
The problem was there was no link between the defense and the forwards, both of which did nothing particularly wrong. All our midfield were crap, that is Cullen, Obiang and Kouyate, plus the wing backs Masuaku and Burke. There was no play maker which I guess should have been Cullen, it was too much for him. I was surprised he was not subbed when he lost a tooth, bad desicion by Moyes I think. I guess also it should not have been unreasonable to ask senior players like Obiang and Kouyate to step up and play as a play maker as it was against a lower league team, but it was clearly asking too much of them, both sat back and did nothing with the ball when they had it. Burke never really got forward and Masuaku did not get going until late in the 2nd half.

Our lake of depth to play in midfield is astonishing. It is really sad as we value midfield at west ham and looks like we have just two players, Noble and Lanzini thta can play football in the midfield.

Yes we should be in for those type of managers, but why would they want to come to us as we are now?

I'd be a little concerned about how the owners would sell their "lofty ambitions" to one of them too.

It's scary how shit we look sometimes. I didn't actually see the game last night though.

Carters - Agree to an extent ref Moyes, quite sure the bloke knows what he's doing, ie is a good coach, puts on good sessions and understands systems etc, but we didn't sell our soul and home to tread water with David Moyes. It's not good enough. We should be in for an Ancelotti/Mancini type if we really do have any lofty ambitions that the fans were told we did.

Re: ⚽ Shrewsbury v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-0
Have not watched it, and after reading reports and comment not sure I will know! It will only piss me off..........Did see that Moyes was quite critical of the senior players, which I thought was a good thing; as much as I liked Slav im sure he would have found an excuse for them, which did him no favours at the end of the day, hopefully they will feel a bit of embarrassment and up the game and focus.

Hart by all account had a good game, think Adrian taking his spot has been good for both of them, one fuck up from either and the other will be in, which is exactly what you want.

Hermit.
First of all I respect your opinon BUT..
Would you play Hernandez,Ayew,Kouyate all three contributed SFA all game.
No team on this Planet can play with 8 men.
Yesterday we did.
If that was our midfield then no wonder we are where we are.
Remember Hermit, Moyes inherited these players
and just give the guy a chance.
Personally, he's an outstanding Manager best we've had in years.
